Contest Results
“Ninja Nights,” the 21st Warlock’s Journal Contest, has concluded. The fan favorite location for a ninja was “The Eye of the Worm,” written by Mixu Lauronen. Mixu received a $15 gift certificate to RPGNow and DriveThruRPG as a prize, courtesy of Tabletop Adventures.
Congratulations to Mixu Lauronen, and our thanks to all the entrants, for providing some excellent dark locations for ninjas. To download the final version of “Ninja Nights” (with all the authors recognized, and some color illustrations added) click here.
Ib September 2015, the wandering Warlock’s Journal appeared again at Tabletop Adventures. In September 2014 we filled the book with pirate-y goodness, in honor of International Talk Like a Pirate Day on Sept. 19. For 2015, we turned our attention to pirates’ fabled enemies, bringing in a number of Ninja Nights!
Original Contest Information
The Warlock’s Journal is an interdimensional book that moves through the planes always seeking new information. This month it was discovered by the minions of Tabletop Adventures, and they are holding a contest for special descriptions to add to it. The entry deadline for “ Ninja Nights” is September 14th and the prize will be $15.00 in store credit on RPGNow/DriveThru RPG.
Entry Details
The object is to describe a place for a ninja. The original idea was to request descriptions of the headquarters of a band of ninjas, such as a stone fortress on a remote mountaintop, or a house hidden in a teeming city. That seemed to restrict the ninjas too much, however, so entries can describe any place for a ninja, whether it be a narrow ledge outside a victim’s window, or a hidden place behind a curtain in the throne room of a patron where the ninja waits for a cue to do away with an enemy. In addition, the entry can be in any genre: fantasy, sci-fi, modern, horror, pulp, etc. Never let it be said that we put too many limits on the ninjas!
Each place needs a nefarious title, such as “House of the Dagger Wind” or “Niche of Doom.” The body of an entry should be at least 100 but not more than 500 words. A person can enter more than once, but each entry must be sent separately. Put the entry in the body of an e-mail and also be sure to include contact information; at a minimum, name and e-mail address. Send all entries to customerservice @tabletopadventures.com. Entries must be received by midnight on Monday, September 14, 2015.
A PDF of all the entries will be available by September 17th. In it the entries will be presented anonymously for voting by fans, using Survey Monkey or a similar service. (Any ties will be decided by the Overlord, of course.) Voting will run through September 23rd.
The winner of the fan vote will be announced by September 26, 2015, after which all entries will be made available as a free PDF with credit to the authors. (Entries remain the property of their authors, but participation grants permission to use entries in the free contest PDF and any annual or other compilation that may be made later.)
Members of Tabletop Adventures and their households are not eligible to win. Tabletop Adventures reserves the right to add more winning places or award Honorable Mention prizes at the Overlord’s discretion. If there are any questions, contact customerservice @tabletopadventures.com.
